We are currently recruiting for the position of:
Classification: Head Groundskeeper
Department: Grounds
Duties and responsibilities:
- Reports directly to the Facilities Manager as a working supervisor – assigns duties and trains all new grounds associates
- Participates in the planning, developing and maintaining of all landscaping areas of the Resort
- Ensures compliance with all corporate policies and procedures to ensure guest satisfaction
- Responsible for grooming and maintenance of all resort grounds areas, indoor and outdoor plants and gardens, including: working with various power tools safely, seasonal planting and pruning, snow removal, communicate with other departments regarding functions which will be done and able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to attend to work reliably, work safely and securely in a manner that protects the integrity and safety of the guest, associates and hotel
The successful candidate will possess the following skill-set:
- Minimum 7 years landscaping experience; minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
- Horticultural background, education or certification
- Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license with proof of a clean driver’s abstract
- Possess pesticide license and application of pesticides and fertilizers
- Proven experience in operation of landscaping equipment and snow removal equipment
- Proven experience in sod, pruning, rockery, hedging, cultivation weeding, planting & clean up
- Proven experience in operation of irrigation systems, landscaping lighting, & digging for posts
- Responsible for roof drains and eaves, parking lot cleaning, & pressure washing
- Responsible for keeping landscaping inventories at required levels and maintenance of all landscaping equipment
- Physically fit and able and willing to withstand year round outdoor elements
- Passion for landscaping and have pride in their job
- Self-motivated and hard working, work independently with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of indoor plant care and gardens required
- Proven experience with soil, weeding, edging, compost and bark mulch
- Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to operate power tractors, mowers, weed-eaters etc required
- Proven outstanding listening and problem solving skills required
- Proven ability to multi-task and take direction well required
- Proven safe work capabilities and reliable attendance record required
- Proven organizational skills required
- Second language is an asset
- Flexible to a changing schedule
